Worldwide Journey Throughout Covid: The Paperwork You Want
A completed locator form
Some travel destinations, including the UK and certain European Union countries, require travelers to complete a digital passenger search form prior to entering the country (you must submit the form for the UK within 48 hours of your arrival in the country) to help with contact tracking. In addition to your travel information, vaccination status and contact information, the form may ask for your country address and UK address for confirmation of the scheduled coronavirus tests you will need to take upon arrival. With its locator form, Croatia requires proof of paid accommodation. When traveling to Canada, you must download and submit information using the ArriveCan mobile app within 72 hours of your arrival.
Coronavirus test results
More and more countries are now requiring proof of a negative test, often in addition to proof of vaccination. Depending on where you are going, some countries require PCR testing while others allow rapid antigen testing. The timing of your test may require 24 or 72 hours prior to your arrival or one to three days after results. Take Croatia again, the country requires a negative PCR test within 72 hours or a rapid antigen test within 48 hours; If you don’t have either, you will need to test on arrival at your own expense and quarantine until you get negative results. The rules for unvaccinated children are also very different depending on the country and age – when entering Denmark, fully vaccinated adults or children under the age of 16 do not need proof of a negative test, while 16- and 17-year-olds have to present a negative test evidence. Again, you have the results in both digital and physical form.
Masks
Mask requirements also vary by country and possibly location, but you will certainly need masks at airports, on your flight and in most locations in Europe and the UK for indoor activities such as eating. And instead of hoping your cloth mask will cover you, they come with surgical masks and N95s too. For example, you need N95s or KN95s to use public transport in Germany.
Proof of insurance
In addition to finding out about health insurance if you get sick abroad, find out whether proof of health or travel insurance is required at your destination. While Egypt, Jordan and many Caribbean countries require proof of health insurance, travelers to Chile must show proof of vaccination and a negative test as well as “proof of travel health insurance with coverage of at least 30,000 US dollars”. For unvaccinated travelers, Costa Rica requires insurance that covers all Covid-related costs, including but not limited to illness.
Evidence of kinship for minors
If you are traveling with children, especially as a single parent or your child is traveling with other relatives, Erika Richter, Communications Director of the American Society of Travel Advisors, strongly recommends that you bring a child consent form and proof of kinship, such as a birth certificate or legal document, in addition to your passport Child.
