Wisconsin Dells College District stories 97 extra college students in 2021-22 third Friday depend | Training

The enrollment at Lake Delton Elementary School grew by 40 students, Spring Hill Elementary School by 61 students, Wisconsin Dells Middle School by 28 students, and Wisconsin Dells High School by 40 students.

According to Terry Slack, district administrator, school enrollment has fallen over the past year as the school district offers face-to-face and virtual learning opportunities due to COVID-19 precautions. The school district has enrolled over 160 new students as of August 2.

Enrollment of students in the Wisconsin Dells School District is expected to decline over the next five years

The number of students in the third Friday count determines how much government aid the school district receives for the year. Slack told board members on Sept. 27 that the number of employees was not final, but he hoped the numbers would be final in the next 48 to 72 hours after the meeting.

He said the school district’s growing enrollment numbers were unique, especially as many nearby schools saw declines in student numbers. Slack attributed the surge in enrollment of students in the district from the surrounding communities to the “plentiful amount of jobs” in the Dells area.

Elsewhere, school boards unanimously approved a bus offer for a 30-passenger, three-wheelchair special school bus from Mid-State Truck Service, Inc. for a 2022 IC CE300 Special Ed School Bus for $ 98,300. According to the school district’s public documents, the new bus will replace an older one that is used for the daily special trips. The school district currently has three special buses and the replaced one is kept as a backup in the event of a breakdown. The Wisconsin Dells directors in each building also shared the school goals for each of the buildings for the 2021-22 school year.
