Training Notes 8-21-21 | TheLancasterNews.com

Free lunch for everyone: The Lancaster School District is offering a free school lunch to all students who sign up for it. Free / discounted lunch requests must be completed by anyone who wishes to receive them in order for the district’s food service to follow this year’s program. The application is available at https://family.titank12.com or on the district website lancastercsd.com under Applications or the Meals tab. No lunchtime visitors are allowed in the schools.

District gastronomy switches to new platform: The Lancaster County School District Food Services division moved to a new web platform this summer to better serve students, families and staff. The new platform, Titan School Solutions, is part of the LinQ family, which includes the programs the district has used.

Titan enables the district to integrate multiple services and offers a new family account option for meals. While individual student accounts are still available, a family account allows multiple students to pay for meals from a single account.

The district has transferred student account balances to Titan. Parents must go to family.titank12.com to sign up for individual or family accounts. Each student’s PowerSchool number is required to enroll.

Free and discounted meal requests can also be filled out in the new program. Families don’t need to sign up for an account to fill out a meal application.

District offers disability screening: The Lancaster County School District’s Child Find program seeks out people with disabilities, ages 3-21, who need special assistance to receive free, adequate public education.

If there is a delay in any area of your child’s development, even if they are not yet of compulsory schooling, contact the district Student Services at 803-285-8439 to arrange a screening and assessment.

Preschool programs for children with special needs provide early intervention services and can prevent some developmental disorders from becoming more severe.

Apply for nominations for the service academy: Candidates wishing to attend one of the four service academies – the US Military Academy, the US Naval Academy, the US Air Force Academy, or the US Merchant Marine Academy – can contact Senator Tim Scott by October 16 at 5:00 p.m. apply. Scott nominates up to 40 students from across South Carolina for an appointment.

Students must submit an application that includes two essays, SAT / ACT scores, high school transcripts, and three letters of recommendation. For more information, contact the Service Academy coordinator at 803-771-6112.
