The Cambridge household went for a very surprising Christmas card this yr
We can’t get over how tall Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis look in this vacation photo from a recent trip to Jordan.
We’ve definitely learned to expect the unexpected these days, and Prince William and Kate delivered their 2021 Christmas card, which was filmed in a real cave. The royal parents traded their usual festive Christmas scene for something completely new and opted for a cute family photo from a recent Middle East vacation – and we can’t get over how big the kids are!
What a big year it was for Prince Louis, 3, who started kindergarten in August. He’s a full-fledged little boy now, putting a half smile on a furry rug in his striped blue polo shirt, shorts, and sneakers. Eight-year-old Prince George is rocking a camouflage polo shirt and looks like he’s grown at least a couple of inches since last year. And Princess Charlotte, 6, looks surprisingly decent and gives us a cheerful smile with her tidy hands – a far cry from the mischievous cutie who stuck his tongue out at her with fans! We love that she wears her ruffled plaid dress with blue sneakers and is ready to sprint right after the shoot.
Kate said it was hard to get Children pose for the camera, so whoever was responsible for dangling the goodies behind the photographer did an A-Plus job. “Glad to share a new picture of the family that can be seen on this year’s Christmas card,” they captioned the photo, which was taken in Jordan earlier this year, according to a statement from Kensington Palace.
Prince William is in full dad-on-vacation mode in polo, shorts and driving shoes, and Kate beams into the camera in an olive shirt dress. One detail that we love and don’t get to see that often is that mom and dad have hands on each other’s knees. These two aren’t big on PDA.
Christmas card from last year more traditional, shot in front of a pile of wood in her country house (enough for more than a couple of cozy winter fires). It was a very autumnal scene with sweaters and boots and holiday colors (cranberry, sage green, navy blue), and the children were sitting on their parents’ laps.
It is rare to get a glimpse of the Cambridge family’s private vacations other than a few snow shots from ski trips. They often hide out on Mustique, a super private island in the Caribbean, so this was a fun change. And Jordan is definitely an important place for Kate, who lived there as a kid for two years when her father worked for British Airways. Now they create new memories there with their brood.
