House City’s Erin Napier Talks The ‘Dance’ Of Parenting At This Stage In Her Profession

Becoming a parent is not an easy task, and the job only gets more difficult when responsibilities grow in other areas of life and when additional children come along. This pretty much applies to everyone regardless of what they do for a living, and when you have a very high profile appearance, like Erin and Ben Napier of HGTV’s hit home renovation show Home Town, parenting can be even more of a challenge when you have things like traveling a lot and add press to equation. Now, while working at this stage of her career, Erin Napier has opened up about the “dance” of everyday parenting.

Erin Napier and her husband Ben have hosted and directed a number of home rehabilitation projects in their town of Laurel, Mississippi, since Home Town started in 2016. Along with the sixth season of the series, which is coming out very soon, the couple have grown their brand by leaps and bounds, also adding daughter Mae, 7 months, to the family they had built with older daughter Helen, who is 3 years old with her busy career, saying:

It feels like every day is a dance and it needs to be carefully choreographed so that we can get through to the end and all feel good about it. The bikes fall off around 5 p.m. We’re just trying to find our rhythm. We had a rhythm as a family of three and now we’re a family of four. Mae needs things when she needs them, so does Helen, and so do we. It’s a challenge, but I think we’ll find out.

It makes perfect sense that even seven months after the birth of their second child, Erin and Ben Napier would still be working on making the most of family time while growing in their careers. In the past few years, the Napiers have moved from being a TV show and a few businesses to Ben’s Workshop, Home Town Takeover, and the upcoming Home Town Kickstart. Erin is also preparing for the release of her first children’s book in May 2022 as the couple are also working on opening two more stores.

As Erin Napier noted, adjusting her “rhythm” was “a challenge,” especially now that they are a family of four and are juggling so many new business ventures. Ben even added that he “planned every minute” from waking up at 4:30 am to about 8:30 pm or 9:00 pm when Helen can finally sleep at night.

Erin admitted that they “need more help” so that they can start their new business now and that such things seem to be the key to balancing work and family life:

The only trick I’ve learned so far is that you have to say what you need. And what I need is to be there for my children.

Ben and Erin Napier will be back on December 26th for Home Town Season 6 and the Christmas Special Home Town: Ben’s Holiday Workshop.
