Find out how to Cease Dropping Issues with ADHD: 6 Knowledgeable Suggestions
“I can’t find my phone!”
“Where are my keys?”
“Has anyone seen my wallet?”
We all misplace things every now and then. But what if it happens several times a day, every day? This is the case with many of my clients with ADHD who experience frustration (and countless lost hours) searching for lost items that they need on a daily basis. Disorganization is often to blame for this – not to mention a lack of focused attention on objects and where they are placed.
To help my clients stop losing things (and better find missing items), I recommend following the six Hs:
1. Home
It is not for nothing that “everything has a home” is a mantra of the organization. Setting general areas for item categories will make it easier for you to find them. Designate a specific location in your home or office, for example to keep your families with important items. Preferably keep similar items in the area where they will be used. Take a few minutes each evening to return the items to your home.
2nd hub
As with the “home” concept, a hub is the place within a house where you can store your most frequently used, essential items. For example, set your phone, wallet, and keys in your bedroom hub. Make your hub eye-catching; Put your items in a fun bowl or basket that will grab your attention when you leave or enter the room.

3. Habit
Make a habit of visually scanning the room you are leaving to look for items. This will help you gather your belongings and avoid things being left behind.
4. Highlight
Highlight items that are misplaced frequently. Some ideas include:
- Apply reflective tape to the TV remote control
- Use a brightly colored phone case
- Attach your keys to a large and unique key fob or keychain
Bright colors and unique shapes make it easy to spot an object when scanning a room for misplaced items.
5. Here
Use mindfulness to notice when you are putting something down. Tell yourself, “I’ll put my ______ here.” Take a look at the place, pause and take a moment to soak up the place. This method will help you remember where you placed an item.

6. Listen
Consider investing in trackers – especially those that make noise – for important items that you keep misplacing. There are different brands and variants, such as B. Stickers or plastic chips that can be attached to keys, phones, wallets and other small items. If you’ve misplaced something with a tracker, you can send a signal to activate it, which emits a sound that gives away its location.
Using these hints frequently will reduce the chances of losing items – leaving you more time to spend on the things you love instead of looking for that misplaced phone.
