Albemarle Co. Public Colleges acknowledge particular schooling laws

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Virginia (WVIR) – Albemarle County’s public schools are celebrating a day in history that changed their schools for the better.

On December 2, 1975, federal laws passed allowed special schools in public schools.

Now Albemarle County has solid opportunities for learners of all kinds.

Nicole Group chairs the Special Education Advisory Committee. She also has a special needs child who is attending Henley Middle School and having firsthand testimony of her services.

“If you have a special needs child and are just starting this journey don’t worry, you are not alone. There are plenty of resources out there, just speak to your case manager, ”said Group.

ACPS case managers work with parents to create a custom educational document to ensure that students of all skill levels learn.

They meet about four times a year to work together on a learning plan.
