After court docket win, Las Vegas couple to host particular training discussion board
A prominent Las Vegas couple who recently won a lawsuit against the Clark County School District on behalf of their dyslexic daughter host a free special education forum.
Open to parents, teachers and community members, the event will take place January 14-15, 9:30 am to 4:00 pm in Sonoma Ballroom C and D of the South Point Hotel Casino & Spa be the same, according to a press release.
A U.S. District Court judge ruled in October that the school district violated federal law governing the education of persons with disabilities by failing to ensure that the daughter of Republican policy advisor Sig Rogich and Las Vegas attorney Lori Rogich, Received instruction in a specific teaching method for children with dyslexia.
The district has been ordered to reimburse the couple more than $ 450,000 for private school tuition and transportation costs.
“This is a significant victory for our daughter and for students who learn differently,” said Lori Rogich in the press release. “With renewed hope, we decided to continue this journey and host a forum for parents, teachers and advocates to discuss educational rights, available resources and intervention strategies for students with special needs.”
The Rogiches will be the speakers; Kelli Sandman-Hurley of the Dyslexia Training Institute; Dana Blackhurst, principal of Chandler School, a private school for children with dyslexia and other learning disparities; and attorneys Hillary Freeman, Jodi Bouer, and Kim Mack Rosenberg.
