A Helpful Information For The Conscious Parenting Of Kids With Autism
The world of parenting has evolved and challenges arise. These only multiply with special needs. In response to this need, Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) Gita Srikanth and Swati Narayan have teamed up to create a new guide for parents of children with the autism spectrum. They didn’t want the book to be just another user guide, but rather a useful addition to the bookcases of parents, caregivers, educators, and behavioral psychology students. The result was A World of Differences: The Ultimate Autism Guide to Mindful Education.
Author Gita Srikanth
Gita Srikanth is the founder and chair of the We Can Resource Center For Autism, Chennai; Co-founder of ProACT, India’s first acceptance and engagement therapy clinic, and has a Masters in Applied Behavioral Analysis. Regarding the book, Srikanth says: “Upbringing today is very complex, all the more so when the child in question is on the autism spectrum. This can be a daunting scenario, so we created a ready-to-use guide in simple language that outlines steps to understand and shape the child’s behavior. ”The book provides evidence-based frameworks and case studies of how that behavior works where reinforcement flows. The authors have emphasized the importance of emotional presence, a need that physical presence alone cannot fulfill.
Author Swati Narayan
Swati Narayan is the clinical director of the We Can Resource Center For Autism, Chennai; and co-founder of ProACT. “When it comes to mindful parenting, A World of Difference is beneficial not just for children on the autism spectrum, but broadly for all families who want to make meaningful changes to create a happier upbringing and environment,” Narayan adds, saying that there is no such thing as perfect parenting, but it’s important to talk about mindful parenting. “It’s about walking your child instead of taking them through the journey with or without a diagnosis. Our book is ideal for anyone who has children in their life and with whom they want to develop healthy relationships, ”Narayan concludes.
The book was published by We Can Publishing and is available in paperback and Kindle formats.
